A Fit Girl’s Guide to Building Self Confidence

Hey loves,

This week’s blog post is going to teach us how to build self confidence. I created this fit girl series to inspire us to focus on personal development as well as fitness on our quests to improve our lives.

In this post, I will go over what self confidence is, why it’s important, its benefits, examples of self confidence and quotes/videos to inspire us to build self confidence.

What is self confidence?

Self confidence describes an inner strength based on self-trust in our abilities to handle challenges. It describes our trust in our selves, our abilities and judgments.

Self-confidence can also be described as a positive feeling about oneself and the world that leads to inspired actions born out of self-respect and trust.

Why is it important?

Having self-confidence can decrease anxiety and depression in our lives. It can lead to better self esteem, success, friendships and happiness.

Without it, we would suffer from low self esteem, sadness, depression, anxiety, guilt and shame.

Suffering from these afflictions would inhibit our overall success, we can therefore see why developing it is crucial for our growth.

Benefits of self confidence:

Examples of self confidence:

  • Knowing and accepting both of your strengths and weaknesses

How to build self confidence:

Stop comparing yourself to other people

Simply, other people are going through their own journeys. They have their own struggles, strengths, and weaknesses that are unique to their stories.

Comparing yourself to them would be an insult to the gifts you have been given or the path that God assigned for you.

Have a positive inner circle

Remove a toxic person that makes you feel inadequate or separate from your worthiness and wholeness.

Only invite positive people that see your strengths to sit at your table.

Live a healthy lifestyle

Exercising and eating healthy are ways of boosting our self confidence. Make sure to also reduce stress and sleep for at least 7-8 hours a night.

Have positive self talk

Having a positive inner dialogue is another way of building our self confidence. If we are on our own side, cheering ourselves on, then we are more likely to achieve our goals.

Practice self-compassion

Have empathy for yourself, be kind and a supportive friend to your experience. This will give you the inner strength to go after those tough (but achievable) goals!

Face your fears

The best way to disarm your fear is to expose and face it. This can be any fear from public speaking to putting yourself out there on social media. It will give you valuable self-confidence.

Set goals

Setting realistic goals is a great way of reaching success, being confident enough to do so will create a positive feedback loop and will create more success for you.

Be assertive

Being assertive is an important life skill that can improve our relationships, work life and general self esteem and wellbeing.

Start saying ‘no’

Having strong boundaries is a sign of self confidence and a strong inner self. You don’t always have to show up if yo don’t want to, start saying no to things that don’t honor what you truly want to do or be.
